2014 vw jetta

My key will go in to but will not
turn to crank..the steering wheel
is not locked. What could it be

I had the same issue. Had to replace the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition lock assembly. Now the steering wheel is locked and mechanic can’t remove it to fix those parts.
