AC blowing out hot air

We have a 2003 expedition. Several years ago it started blowing only hot air from dash. Rear air blew cold and compressor was working fine. Replaced blend door actuator under dash but still blew hot (ALL THE TIME). Had mechanic look at it and he said there was a problem with blend door. He had to remove the entire dash. When he got the heater box out, he found the blend door had a male prong that the actuator nipple went into. The problem was that the prong (it is hollow so the actuator goes in to) had split. This meant the even though the actuator was turning...it was NOT moving the blend door. So it was not changing the flow of air. THEN...we found that ford no longer made the new blend door for our 2003 expedition. So the mechanic found that a 3/4" peck crimp ring fit on to the post that had split on the blend door. He only had to sand it slightly to get it to fit and put glue on it to keep it in place. I got him to replace the heater core even though mine wasn't leaking. He put it back together and it's been working every since. It's a pretty involved repair so cost will be a major consideration. It's unfortunate that even though our expedition is a 2003...ford no longer offers ( neither does advance auto, auto zone, oriellys) nor any other parts stores I could find...the blend door or even the complete heater box. But the peck ring for plumbing works perfectly for this repair. If you look at any replacement blend doors...you will see they now have a metal ring around this post to keep it from splitting. Hope this helps
I replace the heater core in my 2002 Ford Expedition and it only blows cold air in the front what is the problem
