How do I repair windshield seals?

I have been experiencing some electrical problems that from what I hear are most often caused by a leaking windshield seal.  I
have never replaced or repaired a windshield seal and don't know where to start.  Any tips or suggestions?

take it to a local glass shop the windshield has to come out,then be resealed.what is on the outside is weather striping.
