Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi.  My engine and VTM4 light has been on for a couple days.  VTM4 comes
and goes for a 30-1hr ride (not blinking.)  I went to MAVIS.  The code was
P3400. They reset it and both came back on within 15 minutes. Any ideas.
I have 40K  miles, so no warrantee.  Thank you!

P3400 HONDA - Valve Pause System Stuck Off Bank 1...Possible causes; Low engine oil level, Faulty Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid, Faulty EOP (Engine Oil Pressure) sensor, Incorrect oil type used, Engine mechanical condition...If the engine oil is OK and you are using 0W-20 oil weight, then replace the Rocker Arm Oil Control Solenoid to fix the problem...

Hi. Thanks for the info. Now the light went off after a few days. Is this common? Should I still get checked? Thanks again.

For those that find this thread... There is an issue with the Honda pilot and other Hondas where cylinders can misfire. There is was class action suite against Honda. They have included this in their 8 year powertrain warranty. Also note, the warranty is based on original purchased date, not manufacture date. google "honda lawsuit engine misfire". I have a low mileage 2010 that this just happened to but am 1 month out of warranty.

My engine emissions light and VTM-4 lights came on. I needed an oil change. I had checked my oil about4 weeks earlier and it was fine. I took it to Honda to get the oil changed and check on the lights. Their answer was that when the oil is low these lights come on because of a lack of oil pressure. They said I ws over 2 and 1/2 quarts low. They said if the lights came back on it was because the oil was being blown by the rings in the cylinders. I had heard of that in old cars when I was younger. I decided to put a can of SeaFoam in the gas. The lights went off and haven't come back on. The car is running very good. My car has 232,000 miles.
