Loss of power

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Ford edge, bought brand new. Had
for two yrs now and so far in the last 4 weeks it's
died for no reason. Descent Temp outside, was
driving on busy road going downhill when I heard
the motor shut off. I noticed the low oil pressure
lights come on briefly. I had all electrical power but
"nothing" in the motor. Tried to restart several
times as I sat and waited for my fiance to come
help me approx 20 min.  Car would not start after
multiple tries. Had to be pushed off the bust road,
during 5:00 p.m. traffic and approx 15 feet from
the train tracks. So many bad scenieros could not f
happen. The dealership came and towed car to
service dept. We are now 3 days into it and they
can't find anything wrong. They say it runs like a
charm for them. They haven't issued me a loaner
either. The car is 2 yrs old, less then 30,000 miles
and carefully driven. This problem needs to be
addressed like everyone here says before
someone gets hurt. This has us very upset. I will
call dealership tomorrow morning and inform them
of all the great  information I have gathered here.
Thank you all for sharing. As my fiance is a Ford
Guy, I am not feeling safe about buying another
Ford.

Blaming Ford for your car's problems is like saying that all dogs bite. Tom is right - intermittent troubles are hard to find. Is your car a Hybrid? There are TSB's related to concerns like that. Give the dealership a chance to figure it out. Honestly, the internet isn't someplace to get all the answers - we can't even see your car!

The dealership finally decided to replace the throttle body. They were aware of this issue and did not charge us a dime. Agrees this should be a recall. Car is running great so far.

Hi I have a 2013 Ford Edge Sport with the same issue suddenly stops. Solved.. Is a very cheap called purge evaporation valve damaged when over fill the gas tank. Symptoms when the car and obviously the valve is new and you overfill you tank a canister suppose to have Gas Gases contains Gasoline. So when you drive and the motor increase the temperature the valve open and splash the gas on the cylinders so is the car runs on lower rpms suddenly stops and shows the wrench and oil indicator. The second symptom when the valve is completely gone when you overfill the tank all the gas runs over the lines and splash the gasoline over the cylinders when the motor remains off on the gas station. When you try to start the car doesn't star until few tries because has gasoline on the cylinders heads. This the part is Motorcraft CX-2409. When the is completely gone and opens you can hear a sound from the part like a electric shirt circuit.
