It is best to remove the rear driveshaft. And you would need just a yoke to slide back into the trany so you are not leaking fluid.

I have a 1999 Jimmy and the instructions are in the owners manual. On the model that I have you put your foot on the brake and press the 2Hi button at the same time as the 4Hi button on the dash. Hole them down until the Neutral light comes on. Block the wheels or set the emergency brake so it does not roll away. It can then be flat towed in neutral.
