Ignition off show empty, turn kry on goes to full.
When I got truck it was around quarter tank and
worked normal. Put couple gallons in when low
fuel light came on and finished coming home next
day low fuel came on again so put $20 in it and
drove some that day still showing full. Next day
went out and started it and liw fuel light on so put
$20 more in it and went to full and stayed there.
Going down road truck dies, out of gas although
gauge shows 7/8 tank. When ignition off gauge
gors empty but ignition on goes to 7/8 tank. What
could be provlem

I know this may seem like a stupid question but when the fuel gauge/light shows empty can you shake the truck and fuel gauge shoots up to correct reading? The reason I ask this is I have a 2001 GMC Sierra C3 and if I fill it up completely my gauge shows empty and low fuel light comes on. After I drive it and burn enough fuel out of it then it starts working correctly unless I sit at a long red light and it will go to empty. If I shake the truck it shoots back reading. Unfortunately the fuel sending unit is in the fuel tank. You will have to take fuel tank loose and drop it down to change this and while you’re at it replace fuel assembly. Some people choose to unbolt the bed of the truck and raise bed enough to get fuel assembly out. If the fuel gauge is doing something like I have stated that mine is doing then it’s most likely the fuel sending unit or fuel sensor in the tank. Usually if it is in the gauge cluster in the dash it may act a little differently. As for it dying o you it is possibly another issue. Did your truck start right back up after dying?

I stopped the other day and filled it up, not intending to. Had more in than I thought. It's acting real strange. Right before I stopped and got fuel it read empty and fuel light on. Now I know it's full and still showing empty with low fuel on.
