1989 ford crown victoria wiring // fuse links

Asked by Bill_OH Jul 25, 2018 at 12:43 AM about the 1989 Ford Crown Victoria Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Think I burned up fuse link(s) between battery and alternator on 89 Ford
Crown Vic or 89 Mercury Grand Marquis. Just found that wiring returning
from alternator has that electrical burned smell. Will inspect more closely
tomorrow.
Does anyone have a wiring diagram to see if there is more than one fuse
link in the circuit?
Also what gauge/amp rating of fuse link should be used to replace the old
one?.

Well, now I checked the in-line fuse leading to the alternator, and it seems intact, though it got hot enough to burn the fuse wire casing. I will remove the alternator and take it to the auto parts store to have them check that..
