Question type: General

will the motor from a 94 ranger 4.0 bolt up to my
2002 ranger 4.0 since both are 4x4 or what would i
have to do

You will have multiple issues. The first is the 4.0 OHV is an older design and your truck used the 4.0 SOHC in 2002. The other issue is the older engine is OBD1 and your truck is OBD2. This would not be smog legal and you will have engine control issues. Better to find a correct engine for your truck.

well i dont live in a state where they check the smog control but i was just wondering if it could possibly be done since a family member was trying to help me get another ranger running that was a 96 5 speed 2.3 liter engine 2wd and only wanted 150 for the motor

You would have to use the old ECU and wiring. If the truck is an automatic I think you will have transmission control problems too.
