94 Ford Ranger

I replace my clutch-slave cylinder, on my 94 ranger when
I push the clutch in to start it. The truck wants to go  but
will not go in gear?   While the truck is running it will not
go into gear but when the truck is off it will go into gear ...
Please help

The air needs to be bled out of the slave cylinder.
