My 2002 Ford Ranger 4x4 will not stay running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The Ranger ran fine yesterday but would not stay running when I attempted to use it today.  I can hear the fuel pump running and appear to have sufficient pressure at the fuel rail schraeder. Could It be a bad sensor or pressure regulator?

Get an actual pressure reading. Getting fuel when you press the schrader means little to nothing. Without looking up the specs, I can safely tell you that if it did have the 35+ psi of fuel pressure most EFI systems use, it wouldn't be a spurt, you'd get 1/4 cup of fuel right now!

if you have been 4 wheeling or driving on a bumpy road, you want to check your inertia switch. redman56
