1999 GMC Suburban won't start - no power at all, not battery

Asked by mattnchey Apr 23, 2012 at 10:01 PM about the 1999 GMC Suburban C1500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 GMC Suburban - we recently replaced the fuel pump, all the spark plugs, and some other general maintenance items. Then, the transmission went... however, I could still drive it around town in 2nd, staying around 25-30mph. This was working while we saved up money to replace transmission. Then, all of a sudden, it just didn't start at all. No sound, no clicking, have to manually unlock the doors, etc. It's not the battery or the connection to the battery - checked all that out. The only thing that remotely even takes place if I turn the key is the gauges move slightly. Is is the starter? Something having to do with the transmission going out? I just need some ideas....

If you are sure the battery is good then i would trace out the battery cables and check where they hook up. It may be a bad ground connection or a broken connection. Goood luck
