Why does my Jimmy drain while running?

Asked by zombiecoopdog Aug 01, 2020 at 02:48 AM about the 1998 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLS Sport 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 1997 GMC Jimmy SLS. My question is what could cause the vehicle
to completely drain the battery of the SUV while it's still running. The drain is
so bad that the SUV dies and the battery is drained dead. I have replaced
both the battery and the alternator. I have also had the alternator tested at
multiple locations
and all the locations passed. I'm about to just pull the engine and
transmission and send the electrical nightmare to the junkyard. Can
someone help me I really want to get it running again?

did you check your acid level before you started the motor. Document the levels for the past month or so? When did such activity start? I've never heard of this battery problem. But probably bought an alternator you didn't need. you might have a crack in the battery casing and not even know it. endless possibilities
