I have a couple questions. First, why does my car not start after just filling up gas but fine every other start? Secondly, my check engine light came on, any reason?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car is auto and has 1300 miles
on it. I live in Michigan so it's subject
to cold temps. I also do not drive it
agressively at all and the car is
completely stock. Every gauge
shows normal(air/fuel=14,
boost/vacuum is normal too). But
one thing I noticed is that the rpms
drop a little faster than when I first
got it. Any advice Id appreciated.

If it only doe,s it when you put gas in it,and not randomly, these car,s emission runs, of pressure, when gas cap is not secure, and or sealed good,it will do this.Check cap make sure it is seated good when you put gas in it,should fix the issue, but if not ,take it to your ford dealer, make him fix the issue.

Thank you. What do you mean by gas cap? It has the easy fill valve. Once you open the gas 'door' there is no cap to screw on/off, just a spring loaded door

Then you may need to have it checked to make sure it is closing properly, this will cause the issue you discribed,on newer car,s,and this may be why the dealer can find the issue.

And if engine light,is on there is and issue, that can be found by scanning the car.
