Why won't my dome lights turn on with the door open?

Asked by thoughtgarden Jan 03, 2017 at 01:18 PM about the 2015 Hyundai Tucson GLS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My center dome light has stopped turning on with the door open.  If I turn
the switch on manually, it lights up, just not with the door.  My maplights in
the front of the vehicle turn on with both the swich and door, just not the
center dome lights.  I have tried different bulbs, but to no avail.  I have read
elsewhere that there may be a diode issue, but I am not sure where that
diode would be located.  Thanks in advance.!

Did you switch the dome lights to "door"? There usually are three positions, Off, On and Door.

My problem too. Think you have to remove the unit from ceiling lining and diode is behind there

On my Tucson the switch had overheated and melted some plastic. I simply took a knife and scrape some of the plastic back clean the contact off and it works fine. You might while you're in there squeeze the two little points together so make tighter contact and you're ready to go.
