Average engine life 2015 Buick Encore

Asked by RITMOM Mar 27, 2019 at 04:38 PM about the 2015 Buick Encore FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a 2015 Buick Encore FWD with 47k on it. I
had the oil changed at the dealer Mondau and the
tech never tightened the drain plug. Today it ran
dry. I pulled over within 1/4 mile of the oil pressure
light going on and the alarm sounding, but by then
the engine was making noises like it was
struggling. I had it towed to the dealer who assures
me that no damage was done to the engine, but I'm
not sure i believe them... I mean,  I'm sure they're
covering their butts. They offered to extend my
warranty a little but I already bought an extended
warranty. I need to know how long, with proper
maintenance the engine SHOULD last, so I can
push for them to cover it to that threshold.

The dealer is lying. They know the engine is damaged. Don't take anything less than a new engine. With care the engine should easily last 200,000 miles.
