The radio has a internal problem.

check your ground connection, to make sure it is all that~

pull it out and bench test it, dollars to donuts...the problem is not the unit, but reliable ground to the unit....see if you can assure ground going to the chassis, to the motor, and chassis welded to the frame---any of these grounds problematic--- the connector might just be a little jiggly and corroded over~
dollars to donuts you dont know what your talking about. SURPRISE! if the ground was bad the unit would shut off. ERROR being displayed is common and have replaced many units on behalf of that mesage. It is a internal issue. I am so sick of your non sense. Go elsewhere post on someother threads and fill it with your non-sense Ive got the fords covered.
Is there a way I can fix it without replacing the radio?
There are some places that rebuild them. Other than sending it off to get rebuilt there isnt a way to fix it other than replacing it with either a factory replacement or a aftermarket unit.
Okay I'm just going to put an aftermarket radio in it. Thanks a lot

be careful buying one---there is a practical issue here--you do not have to want to deal with a menu button to go beep beep beep to lower or raise the volume....panasonic, experts at takin' your eyes off the road....was GLAD when it got stolen, could spend a little more time drivin' not muffdufflin' around with the buttons~

...still think the connector to the unit is at fault here--examine please~
