Slow to engage in drive and reverse

Hi there everyone. I have a 2001, v6 4WD. I recently had the trans. out to fix a bushing problem in the driven gear that was taking out the left front axle seal every 100 miles. Now it is slow to engage into drive or reverse and I have to rev the engine to about 1200 rpm to do so . after that everything works perfect. Fluid levels are good. could this be sensor related. thanks in advance for any help.

I would take it back to whoever worked on it and have them fix the problem they created.

Dealer charged me $5400 to put a new transmission in my 2015 ford escape and $1800 for a new computer then he said when I put the truck in drive for the next 300 miles I would have to wait few seconds to engage is it only for the Ford Escapes or all Ford 6-speed Transmissions are the same
