Swapping transmissions

I have a 2001 ford escape sitting in my driveways
due to failed inspection. I Just found a 2003 with a
newer engine, only needs a transmission...my
question is can I take the tranny from my 01 & put
it in the 03...they're the same make and model &
both 4wd (not sure if that mattered) only thing
different is the year.

Check the VIN number on both cars and in it will indicate what tranny was used. You will need to go on line an find a free VIN decoder.
yes you should be able to use that tranny but check all your plug ins and fex plate these are the only things that might be different .. you might have to use the pug ins from the one car you are getting the tranny out of if so its easy to make the changes with the tranny out of the way fly wheel fex plate this you need to see if you tork will line up with the bolt holes hopefully they will and if not hopefully the bolt pattern on the crank well if you have to change them well good luck hope this helps you out gene

Yes it will work in your 2003 escape 2001 will go in a 03 and a 03 will go in a 01 all the way to 2008

GuruNXRDD did you ever find this out? I am wondering the same with my 2007. I can get a 2002 transmission for really cheap if the swap will work
