Rear end

Asked by Guru7GY9 May 21, 2017 at 12:59 PM about the 2001 Ford Escape XLT AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Ford Escape. Drives great.
But every now then when I slow down and
start to pick of speed sounds like being hit
in rear end. I was told maybe universal
joint. Help need answers. Also my cable to
gear shift broke. Gear shift only goes in
reverse park and neutral. Had take steering
column apart to change gears. The
overdrive constantly flashes. Also antilock
brake light is on. Feels like brake is
grabbing. Or not going to stop. Was told
ring was broke. Need advice on what going
on

Agree with Tom, get it in somewhere for a transmission diagnostic. U-joint, lockup clutch, too many things to guess at.
