Question for CarGurus: do you people realize that the prices you quote on your website are not real prices because the dealers add on phony extra fees like document fees, transfer fees, etc?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing
I found that the prices that CarGurus advertises for cars are false prices
because the dealers add on phony and fraudulent fees like document
preparation and transfer fee or transportation fees.

The fees that you mentioned are legitimate fees. Do you have ANY idea what is involved when purchasing a vehicle?
Blame the dealers who post the misleading prices. No one can make you pay those fees.
I found that here in Pennsylvania, the used car dealers add in $144.00 for "document preparation"- or $384.00 in transfer fees -that is such B.S.: those are not out of pocket dealer costs; that is just pure profit they add onto the negotiated price. So, after you spend a lot of time and energy to agree on a price, the dealer surprises you at the end with several hundred more dollars.
I wish that CarGurus would include these extra fees in its website so we know the real price of the vehicle. Would save a lot of wasted time. Not all dealers charge the same extra fees, either. They do it if they can get away with it.
