Why does my 1957Chevy transmission not shift from 1st to 2nd after 7 miles?

Asked by 57_Man Dec 08, 2015 at 07:52 PM about the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Hardtop Sport Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My transmission was rebuilt. The kick down linkage was missing and it was replaced with a kick down cable. It is a two speed power glide, cast iron with a 283 Chevy engine. It runs and shifts good for the first 7 miles, then will not shift to second gear. 10 to 15 minute cool down-starts to work again for 7 miles.

What ever the cause, the shop that rebuilt it made a mistake. What do they say about it?
