About new car oil change

Asked by Yidong Dec 27, 2015 at 05:51 PM about the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4MATIC

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a brand new 2015 Mercedes GLA 250, but it was made Dec-18-
2014. When I got the car, the engine light was on, but after one night, it was
gone, i thought it was the battery causing the this problem. However, next
day, my car show a message that service A exceeded 12 days, so I think my
engine oil may be too old so my engine light was on, then I took my car to the
dealer, asked them to change oil, but they just reset my service A message,
and did not do anything, then I asked them the engine oil is good for another
year, they said it is find. My question is should I change my engine oil now, or
I wait until next year November to change. Now my car only has 490 miles,
and 1 year old engine oil.

You paid upwards of $33,000 for that Mercedes and deserve better. Oil should be changed at less then one year, regardless of mileage. No to criticize you, Yidong, but the CEL being on the day you bought the car was your first clue, something is not right. Mercedes builds superior cars, but there are lemons in any production run. DEMAND that the Mercedes dealer change the oils and filter, NOW and don't take 'no' for an answer.
