How do I reset the EVIC Stored Message "license plate light is out" on a 2015 Ram?

Asked by Lkn0602 Dec 29, 2016 at 04:37 PM about the 2015 RAM 1500 Sport Crew Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the oem bulbs with LED bulbs and that are both working great.

LED bulbs are not compatible with the system and require resistors to be installed to enable the computer system not to show a fault code.

Don't worry about the messages. LED lights use such power to operate that the brain (ECM) of the Ram believes the light must not be working. There are options available to you, like wiring in a canbus reconfiguration system, but that is money spent on cosmetic solutions. The root problem will still exist but you have in essence duct taped the mouth of your trucks brain, silencing its ability to tell you the situation it sees about your LED lights. Just ignore the warnings and drive on!

That is painful a better light that uses less energy and causes a problem with the brain of the computer. All my other brake lights are led except the top one
