95 GMC Vandura 2500

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The ignition switch just turns forward and doesn't
crank the key just stays forward and don't go back
unless I turn it I had the steering took apart an I
found a piece that I believe is part of the Ignition
Actuator Rod, Cable and now order led new
steering column cause part is hard to find if at all
how can I start without the key picture below is
what broke off the cable, wire

I would like to do that but I can't find the part I need unless it's with the steering column also the wires are cut that went to the turn signal, wipers, etc... harzards

I think that's a piece of the rack and sector assembly that basically connects the ignition lock cylinder to the ignition switch. See the picture below. However, with all the cut wires and everything, my suggestion is to throw away the entire steering column and get a good used one from your local junkyard or Ebay. Hope that helps! Jim

Yeah that's exactly what I'm doing cause of the wires being cut for the turn signal, wipers, hazardous is what it should be but no luck finding the right 1 so ordered steering column from Anderson Wrecking and hopefully found right 1 since the yr of van it's difficult part to find picture below is what it is I need but it's wrong 1
