Can I put a 4.0 out of an 01 explorer in an 01 expedition

Since they never were mated from the factory - no - That being said ANYTHING can be done with the right energy level and MONEY. Not worth it though in my mind

2001 Expedition only had the 4.6 or 5.4Liter and Mike nailed it on the head, if you have a good 4.0 laying around, sure it's possible but you can get a long block (heads on)4.6 for under $2k with 1 year 12000 mile warranty

Thankx for yur feed back. the reason is I have the explorer just sitting there and cant get a title for it. I know the motor is smaller than in the expedition but was hoping to just throw it in there with some minor changes with little cost. motor mounts, computer, and some wireing......
