Have the codes read. This is where you start. Go to an auto parts store and have them scan the codes.

Sentra has a CVT transmission If transmission oil is okay, you need to re-program the transmission computer. This happens when the transmission is completely disconnected due to work done sometimes due to vehicle repair. My Sentra did exactly the same, after reprogramming everything was just perfect. Good luck

Get rid of the car if you can. The symptom you just described is the same as what i have been experiancing along with thousands of others who have this car. It is the very poorly designed transmission that is is causing this. You car needs a new tranny and if your lucky, yours will still be under warantee. But your going to need a new tranny again after a while. and then what are you going to do? my car is a 2015 model just like yours and i only have 30k miles on it. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times now and they do not even try to fix it anymore. they take it for a test drive and say they cant find any problems so they give the car back with out charge because it is still under warantee. However that dosent solve my problem. How do i get my car repaired under the warantee if the dealer will not even acknowledge there is a problem. When the car acts up it is really bad. It scares my wife so much that she refuses to ever drive the car anymore. It needs a new trans and they will not replace it.
