Is it normal to get locked out with car running because key fob is in car?

Asked by Kait8888888 Jul 08, 2020 at 03:27 PM about the 2016 Lincoln MKZ FWD

Question type: General

I just replaced the battery on my 2016 Lincoln
MKZ and started it to make sure I was good to
leave advance auto. Closed the door and tipped
the guy that put the new battery in and now I'm
locked out with the car running. I've never had this
issue before (starting car, getting out, and then
being locked out). Is this normal or do I need to
take to the dealership?

U may have to have the dealer reprogram the key fob to the vehicle.

U may also go around the vehicle and push on each door and tailgate to make sure that they r completely closed. Then if u still cant get in call your roadside assistance. They will get u in.
