2016 SRX Transmission Fluid Change Issue
Asked by coinmanone Feb 04, 2019 at 08:28 PM about the 2016 Cadillac SRX FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2016 SRX 3.6. with 49,000 miles. I want to drop the transmission pan and change the filter to get a possible 50% fluid change, then follow that up with same after another 10,000 miles. Its hard to find info on this other than it has no pan to drop and seems this transmission has an internal screen with no filter that can be changed out. That leaves me with draining and refilling with a hand pump into the side fill hole. My problem is I cant seem to pinpoint the drain bolt or the side refill bolt. Has anybody performed or have knowledge on this procedure ? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I ended up sucking the fluid out the didstick tube with a hand pump. All i could get was 2 quarts at a time. I have did it twice and the fluid is looking much cleaner. I will do it again after 5,000 miles.

I have a 2015 SRX FWD and the drain plug is actually the lowest service port on the transmission for checking line pressure. It doubles as the drain plug. It's not the typical drain plug with a copper washer, but a Hex head plug. You will need 5 quarts of fluid to replace what you drain out.You won't use all five quarts (4.2 quarts). I have attached a picture of the bolt location. Hope this helps?

ChevyINSANE .... Thanks for your information. I have seen this on mine and suspected that could be it. Now with your answer I will be confident to give it a try.
