I just changed my fuel filter on my 2001 ford mustang. It ran good for most of the day, then it started to idle high, then low, then die. Is it possible it needs a new brain box?

search elsewhere before you go replacing the pcm. scan it for engine codes, it may have something stored. also, if you were having fuel related issues it would be a good idea to have your fuel pressure tested. there is a specific pressure range for your vehicle. if the pressure is out of this range, all kinds of weird things can happen. If pressure tests ok it wouldn't be a bad idea to test the injectors.

It's sounds like your not getting any fuel, take the plastic tube, from the air filter,to the throttle body off,and spray some carb cleaner,or ether in there ,and then try to start it, if it fires up the you know it's a fuel problem....could be a clog fuel filter, air sensor, or a fuel pump...they sell oxg. sensor cleaner, every where, and it's just a couple of screws to take it off,and spray it all, do it two,or three times to be sure, then let it dry reinstall.....hope this helps
