Does the faux air scoop on an 01 Mustang V6 need a SOLID grill?

My 01 Stang came with DUCT TAPE on the fake hood scoop. I bought a billet
(see photo) but it's not solid. Do I need something solid there? Thanks!

Not really, but in rain some water will enter or fuzzy debris, just open the hood once in while make sure nothing has moved in and is living there.

Sammie, it will help it vent more engine heat when shut down, along with providing additional cool air while driving.
