This has been going on for years with the 5.0 engine. There is a video out there somewhere where ford has come up with a fix, for people who buy the BS answer. I drove nothing but Fords with the 5.0 for over thirty years. For some reason, instead of the usual 5 quart oil change they went to over 7 quart oil change. The video I cite was one where Ford installs a new dip stick. This one about an inch longer than the one which came with the vehicle. Lining up the sticks, the top hole (full) is where the old stick is. The bottom hole (add) is an inch further down the longer stick. Meaning, I would figure, the oil level is down to 5 quarts and you should add to quarts to bring it up to the full line. I'm not buying their explanation, and Ford is tight lipped on providing a believable explanation.
