I have had my mini cooper clubman S for 14 months and have had three tire blow outs and replacements. Is this common? I am disgusted.

I am leasing a Mini for the first time and did not purchase the additional tire insurance. Now I know why it even exists. three flats in 13 months. I have been driving for 30 years and never had this happen with any other vehicle, old, new, rental, owned, SUV or car, country road or city highway. I am beyond disgusted. Is this reality with these run flat tires? Or am I just experiencing a bad string of events?

Maybe you have crappy tires or you drive on bad roads. Run flats ride terribly and people hate them. I don't know that they are any more susceptible to damage than ordinary tires.

Runflat tires have ridiculously stiff sidewalls so that when the tire looses pressure, the sidewalls will still hold the weight of the car for some time. If you're in a city where there's potholes or many bumps, road construction etc, you can reasonably expect tire damage. Another possibility is that there's something going on with the wheel(s)
I had a blowout tonight and when I pick my Mini Clubman S up tomorrow, that will be the 13th tire I've had to replace since the lease began in April 2016. It is insane.
I should add, I've only ever had one other flat in my entire 28 year driving career
I am having the same issue! 4 tire changes in 1.5 years of a 3 year lease term and last night made number 5 and the tire WENT FLAT! I WANT OUT OF THIS LEASE! 30 years of driving and ive had more flats in the 1.5 years of this mini cooper lease than in the last 30 years. Beyond disgusted.
I have had my John Cooper Works for seven days and two blowouts. I had to be towed and buy two tires. This sucks.
Had my first blown out in less than 5000 miles…. And I brought this mini… smh… (22 yrs of driving).
