Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 mini cooper transmission is
dying. I noticed this is very common when I
did the research online. Are there any
attorneys or lawyers out there in the
Michigan area willing to help recoup for all
of these expenses a new transmission is
between four and $7000 and I only have a
110,000 miles on the vehicle. Many mini
Cooper owners are frustrated and waiting
for a recall

Same thing here-even MINI dealership said needed new tranny ($9500!!). Shop in Holland MI said it is NOT tranny-solonoids are made with teflon and fail (stick when engine is hot). He showed me a ziplock bag of them-he has done hundreds of trannys. $750 out the door and it shifts perfectly fine. He is a trans shop (had a tranny there if I needed it) and he said "MINI tranny is one of the best out there. I rarely see a bad transmission. It is as good as they make!

This is to tmh5..... I bought a 2006 mini Cooper S in February of this year and same problem started almost immediately. A few things were from the car sitting parked for a while and not driven but the latest thing I’m told is the ‘clutch fork’ or possibly the clutch.? Being a female I’ve had to Google everything that I need to know about the car because there was not a manual with it, but I do not understand anything about clutch fork or clutch period! One person actually look at it and told me it was going to be a very hard job and the front and would practically have to be taken off.? Several other people that I’ve talked to have said yes it is it difficult job, one even saying 15 to 16 hours to do the job if that’s what it is exactly. My question is one day it was perfectly fine, shifting just fine,& The next day it was getting really hard to put into gear, like really stiff and then all of a sudden it would only going to reverse. Have you any knowledge of something like this or something that might can help me out that I can pass on to someone else who I might get to work on the car for me?
