Hello Lilly
Bigdog in tampa here. search "starting problem" here are my posts on the same problem,
have heard this a number of times and dealer tried to be helpful, but could not fix. my
resolution is included.
"was there a resolution to the staring problem?? Have the same thing with my 2016 eco.
the dealer replaced the starter, but did not fix. why they did not do a bench check of the
starter is beyond me. Mechanics are trained and not educated. they follow a procedure
and then call the factory. car now at dealer for week and a half.
bigdog1026, we have had our 2016 Mustang in the shop 7 times since purchasing 6
months ago with 3,389 miles on it at purchase. It is at the dealership more than on the
road. The car will start, back out and it goes dead. All accessory power is working - lights,
air, radio, etc. the push button continues to blink green until the car resets itself which can
be a very long time. Up to an hour and 37 minutes as of yesterday. They have replaced
battery, fuel control module and fuel pump. Obviously, nothing has worked and Ford
doesn't want to buy it back. Any answers to your Delia??? We hate our Mustang now. No
fun in it now, We are considering seeking legal council to attempt to resolve this matter.
Hello 2wilsons I feel your pain, but cannot offer any suggestions. returned the pony to the
dealer again, they had it for a week and replaced the ECU. It started fine for a month then
began going intermittent again. it got worse and worse. Anyhow, my problem is in the
starting. once started, the car runs fine without trouble. Returning it is not an option. I have
modified it for shows and Xcross. So my fix (?) was to install a switch which put 12v power
directly to the starter. I push the start button which activates everything (but the starter
does not work), take my foot off of the brake, push down on the aux switch to start.
Perhaps 25% of the time, the starter will go the first time. if not, I can push the switch five
times in a second. the starter will usually operated within the first five pushes."
the direct power switch to the starter continues to work fine, but i always wonder about the
next time i try to start
