High mileage Subaru Outback

Asked by Gabi_Bella90 Aug 24, 2019 at 05:30 PM about the 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited

Question type: General

Just tried asking this question and seems like it
didn’t post, so here goes round two. I’m
considering a 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5I Limited.
Test drove the car and I love everything about it.
My hesitation is that it has 77,000 miles. They’re
asking $17,500. Carfax checks out. 1 owner
vehicle. All service records available and it’s all
routine scheduled maintenance. Is this too many
miles? I’ll likely be financing 60 months and don’t
want to be making major repairs before it’s even
paid off. Also, what kind of issues and repairs
should I expect in the near future, if any? I’m
young and just starting in my career and don’t
have a dad or mechanic friend or anything like that
to run to when my car makes a noise. I want
something reliable that won’t need any major
repairs for a while. Please share your insight!

The biggest worry is the CVT (transmission) if (or when) it goes a new one runs close to 8 grand. If you buy it get a good extended warranty!

If you drive more than 10,000 miles a year I would buy a lower mile car.

I'm in Denver, where Subarus are expensive. I'm looking at a 2013 premium for 13,000 with 100k miles. What are your thoughts? What can I expect to be issues with this car, or should I just stay away?
