my battery died and had a jump. Now my doors wont lock with the fob.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The kids left the dome light on and killed the battery  After it was jump started I discovered the car won't lock by touching the handle.  I get a long beep and the doors do not lock.  Is there a fix short of going to dealer?

Hi, had different year/model Subaru, BUT I had to reprogram my remote from similar circumstance and I ACTUALLY FOUND HOW TO DO IT IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. Yes, surprised I was and did it myself. Took at least 3 tries till I got it right but got it working. Hope they still do it that way.... just be patient and don't get overwhelmed by all the usual useless information that is in there.............

oh, it's usually a stupid combination of doing things like turning the key or pushing the button, opening and closing the door, and while holding some button on the remote.........
