I have the same problem. Took the car to dealer and they stated the problem was a faulty door lock actuator. They want $650.00 dollars to fix the problem.
I don't have an answer, but my 2016 Dodge Caravan is having the same issue just starting a week ago and from looking online it seems all of our 2016s are starting to have this same part fail. We need to all go out and create a complaint on the NHTSA website to force a recall. I'm going to as soon as I get my vin#. (You have to have vin# to file a complaint.)
Us rgere a recall on door buzzing
Is there a recall on door buzzing

My 2016 has same issue since last week,-Right side door , any update on the recall. My mechanic will charge 400 to fix it.... :(
There should be a call or a free fix. This is clearly a problem.
So is it not covered under warranty?
took my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan to Cutter Dodge in Honolulu to fix my sliding door (driver side) that makes noise or buzz when I lock it. My husband paid extra $500 for Mopar Lifetime Care when he purchased the van so when I took it to Dodge Service Department (in fact it's still there coz I just took it this morning) and the technician told me that according to my plan I have $200 deductible. So, I'll find out tomorrow when it's done what's the total cost to fix that door.
took my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan to Cutter Dodge in Hawaii to fix my sliding door (driver side) that makes noise or buzz when I lock it. I finally had my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan sliding door lock buzzing problem fixed. And I really did pay $200 for everything including the diagnostic. Cutter Dodge Service Department Pearl City in Hawaii even have a service to take me home and pick me up the next day when they're done fixing my van. I am satisfied with their service and they're very friendly.
I filed a complaint of the NHTSA website. Everyone with this problem please go do the same, maybe they will finally recall and get it fixed.
Ours does the same thing, I will go to the NHTSA site now!!
Maybe we should all complain on their public facebook page too!!
I am having the same problem. The buzzing is driving me insane.
I am having the same problem. I can not use my car for Uber. The customers do not like this buzzing. I am not able to work.
Did anyone complain on the NHTSA website?
I complained on NHTSA website, but I think its important that everyone with this issue does.
I did complain on NHTSA. I hope everyone will do that.
Mine has been doing this for MONTHS! It's annoying and embarrassing.
I am having the same issue also and filed a complaint on the NHTSA website.
Mine are doing the same. How do we find out if there is a recall. Or who can we complain to? Very annoying.
I havea2016 and mine is buzzing to
I have a 2014 T&C 30th anniversary edition with 80,000 miles that just started doing the same thing. Going to file on NHTSA website for sure. Our old T&C had quite a few electrical issues that were just weird. I can't believe I bought another Chrysler. On the plus side, my kids love the dual dvd's and the second row seat warmers, lol. This will be my last Chrysler/Dodge.
we are also having the same problem.
A buzzing noise after the door locks or unlocks is the door actuator, the reason the cost of replacement is 400 to 800 is because the time it takes to get to the actuator is about 20 - 30 for a professional and about 1 hour for a beginner, that's just to get to the device... they could have constructed this a new way and cut the time by 70% to 80% but that's not up to the laborers and engineers dont care about ease of access... The part is only 25 to 50 dollars brand new so if you have a few bits and a camera to take of picture of all the cables, wires, bushings and inserts then it'll only cost roughly 30 bucks and 2 hours if you're quick
I am in Canada and this buzzing problem just started on one of my sliding doors. I will go to the NHTSA website and lodge a complaint Art K
Can you do that from Canada?

Mine has been doing this since I bought it used and I thought it was normal. I thought it was an odd feature. Now I’m used to it and I kind of like it.
Just went to the NHTSA site and filed a complaint... Need more people to do... So they can see its a much larger problem.
My 2016 caravan back door started buzzing two days ago. But same door the lock jams as well don’t know if related?
My 2016 Dodge Caravan appears to have the same issue, if I hit a bump in the road or a pothole it starts to sound like it is unlatched and trying to open over and over again until I get out of my car and hit it t relatch it, it only happens in hot weather in the winter it never unlatched at all the dealership told me today it is $1238.68 to repair it stating that the latch alone is $600 which I looked up and it is not that much
Same issue with my 2016 caravan. It is indeed embarrassing and annoying and I open my van from far away. If this isn’t going to be on the recall list it’s like saying ‘get over yourself, it’s not a safety problem. I believe they already filed it as such.
Our 2016 Town & Country has the same problem with the door actuators. We reported it on the NHTSA website. These actuators need to be re- engineered to eliminate the defect, or it will happen again and again. The repair is expensive, and beyond the skill level of most Town & Country or Caravan drivers. Chrysler needs to contact the owners of Town & Country and Caravans to tell them that Chrysler is aware of the problem and will expeditiously resolve it for the public free of charge. Obviously, this requires many millions of dollars in repairs, and they will try to avoid noticing what is going on in favor of corporate profit. It would be a shame to have to resort to a boycott of purchasing Chrysler products to teach them responsibility. We are convinced that Chrysler knows of this problem and has done nothing, though we could be wrong. They need to be given a timeline to notify the public that the problem will be fixed. Any suggestions about what that timeline should be before initiating a boycott? We think a boycott should begin just before Chrysler comes out with their 2021 series.
Our 2016 Dodge Caravan just started to do the same thing! I'll go report on NHTSA website, but glad to know it wasn't my kids fighting over who gets to press the door button that did it :-)

I have a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan and mine has been doing the same thing with the sliding door for years now. The dealership told me it would be $500 to fix. Ya, that is not happening I told them. I am not willing to pay for something that should be recalled. I had this problem since 2016. I am now having issues with Trunk opening and closing on it's own; even when it is locked. Not safe at all and already got stormed inside of my van; cause I didn't realize it was opened. They told me I would have to pay $125 to get it looked at and then pay for the repairs. Again, not happening. I had a new Transmission put in at 74,330 miles after they told me when I left the first time; that it was a computer reset that needed done. Then, they had my van for 2 weeks trying to get the transmission built. At 139,466 miles I had all of my transmissions lines leaking and had replace all of them for another $500; cause there was no warranty from them doing my second transmission. My CD Player eats my Cd's now and my AC quit working. All in all I do love my Van, but I am getting very angry at all the issues; that should covered under a recall and they are not covered.
Same buzzing from my 2016 Chrysler Town and Country's passenger side sliding door when I lock/unlock any doors in my van. Chrysler dealer said $500 to fix it. That is too much so I called Chrysler directly. They said if enough people call about it, it becomes a recall issue. I filed complaint on NHTSA but please also call Chrysler to report it and get a case number! Chrysler's # is 800-334-9200
I noticed the same problem two days ago. It is a surprise to see so many identical complaints here. I paid an extra half an hour diagnose fee to look into the problem to the dealer while I had my car serviced today. It was a shame for the dealer to charge me the diagnose fee since they received so many complaints before. They should know right away it's the USUAL problem especially for the 2016 Grand Caravan. I'll file a complaint to Chrysler Canada but I don't know if I can file a complaint to NHTSA from Canada.
Same problem here. Had one side replaced via extended warranty but month before exspire my other side went, due to Family emergency’s couldn’t get to the dealer in time. Ill file on NHTSA too.
Me too 9/18/2020!! My 2016 started the beginning of this summer, had for a little over 1 yr now and it BOTHERS MY AUTISTIC SON AND MAKES MY 7 month JUMP each time. Glad to see there’s so many others. I now will complain also.
I have a 2017 and it just started making this noise this morning! Ugh!!!
Just submitted a complaint and I think we all need to. Get your VIN ready and fill out this quick form. Here is the link: https://www- odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/?

Yall sound very entitled. I've fixed this problem a good amount of times already. The actuator is not easy to get to. The price is mostly labor because you should have to take the slide door off and put it on a bench to work on it. This will NEVER be a recall and I'm glad it will never be either. Recalls are for SAFETY reasons, NOT satisfaction. Recalls are to stop cars from either burning up or crashing. PERIOD. Man up, and own your vehicle. You're responsible for the upkeep.
Guru99ZG5X answered 4 years ago
And thanks for all the helpful aids as how to remove the inside door trim, panel, dust/environment cover and all of the connector plugs and push-pull cables from the actuator. Sounds as though you are happy to be making a living fixing problems that either bad quality control or poor design has created. To say that you believe several persons' complaints are due to entitlement of purchased products leaves me with my opinion of your character and I will leave it at that. Hopefully neither one of us will have to deal with the other face to face. Good day.

It is a huge safety issue especially if door won't open during an unfortunate accident. It is a family vehicle made for children that shouldn't have to take the risk of not being able to get out of a vehicle in time as well as it is a paid option to have sliding doors which become useless. As a chrysler worker it is a shame it's not a recall on an important asset to owning a mini van. Fix the cheap plastic parts used and fix them properly and not to owners expense as the customer isn't at fault for poor piece. There is no regular maintenance on this part as the poster above claims. Cheap plastic parts that are used on a very well used component is to blame. So above poster is really oblivious to the Situation and obviously doesn't know what he is talking about

I have the same problem noise on the passenger side sliding door. Dodge should stand behind this! Anyone else also happen to have the engine light come on? Curious if related. The dealer said the light came on for low voltage and we replaced the battery. But the light came on later that day?
Same issue with passenger door buzzing. Filed an NHTSA complaint. Took 4 minutes to do. Please add yours yo the list.

I have the same buzzing sound coming from the passenger side sliding door of my 2016 dodge caravan. And now the drivers side door won't open at all today. My car just turned 68,000 miles. This is crazy. I do ALL regular maintenance on my vehicle. But yet my check engine light randomly comes on for a few minutes at a time then goes off. Had them run a check on it and they said MAYBE a super tiny emissions leak or loose gas cap. But it never stays on or flashes so they said not to worry. I too am filing a complaint with NHTSA today
Well it took me a 2hrs and about min start to finish to change actuator. Yes everything has to be gutted change part and pit all back together again. Sucks but it works again on a 4 yr old van. What was worse is also only 4 yr old van had 2 seized rear caliper guide pins 1 each side. Now this is the 3rd caravan that I've done brakes on and seized pins everytime and always the same pins. So a 2014 a 15 and a 16 all same problems
Heck if you lived near me I'd do the job half the price of dealership plus the part lol id make a killing at this rate
kinda weird all these vans having the same problem...including my 2014 dodge grand caravan...still locks and unlocks..but that darn buzzing sound is so annoying one fella says its a stuck button that needs to be reset...kinda difficult to get at though

I have a 2016 Caravan that only has 36,000 miles and my side door started making the same noise when I went to unlock it. So annoying. Can’t stand the noise. Does anyone know if the6 are going to have a recall to fix this issue Where can you send a complaint
Guru9Y16HP answered 3 years ago
My 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan started making this buzzing noise today. This is my first and last Dodge, and I can't wait to be rid of it.
Guru95YBN9 said he'd fix it for half the labor. Didn't say where he is. Anyone know? I have the buzzing sound too.
For those that blame chrysler for the issues unfortunately the blame needs to go to the vendor that makes this part or parts. Vendors tend to change parts or of build after they receive a contract from any auto Company to save on costs etc. Most times these auto manufacturers don't even know parts changed till after the fact even years down the road. For example Takata airbags that every single car manufacturers used and thus such a huge recall. I do blame chrysler for not honering an extended warranty on certain things but unfortunately they didn't make the parts. If all the auto manufacturers did this they would all be bankrupt and bo one left to make vehicles. Ya I'm one of them with sliding door issues on mine amd 3 other family members as I fixed them but one has to understand every vehicle has something wrong eventually especially very well used areas such as a door and electronics usually tend to wear out a lot faster than other parts. I am with all of you on this should be a recall part...but all I'm saying is every manufacturer has some sort of problem as they just assemble the vehicle from parts made by many others which many vendors cheap out with no knowledge to manufacturers.

Our sliding door won't open on the drivers side and it makes that noise when I lock the doors or turn left.
Same. All of the above. Check engine light on and off, while our mechanic can't see any issues. Doors open and close at random. Buzzing each time you open and close the doors. It's absurd.
seashellsc answered 2 years ago
We have the buzzing also on a 2016 Dodge Caravan on the driver's side sliding door. Locking the doors manually and when the automatic lock at about 15MPH locks produces a very loud buzz-

Got a letter yesterday extending the warranty on the door actuators to 15 years or 150,000 miles. Tells me to schedule with local dealer to get fixed. The back of the letter is a form to fill out to be reimbursed if you have already paid for repairs.
Guru91XRTY - THANK YOU!!!!! Your post to our group was a HUGE help! I contacted Gary Miller Chrysler dealer in Erie, PA. By looking up my VIN they were able to confirm our van qualified for the fix! I was thrilled as I had gotten an estimate for $900 over the summer to fix the noise. One important tip to note - the dealer said Chrysler does NOT include coverage of the 2 appliques around the window if they break when the dealer removes the door to fix the actuator. The dealer said these pretty much always break when the door is removed but since Chrysler doesn't include them as covered under this extended warranty, I would be on the hook for over $230 - for something that wasn't broken when I handed the car to them. So....they called their Chrylser rep to get approval for Chrysler to pay for the appliques as well if (when) they break. The Rep approved and noted the approval for Chrysler in my file. New actuator and new appliques were fully covered and I do not have that horrible buzzing noise anymore. Thanks for the tip from the CarGuru and thank you to Gary Miller Chrysler in Erie for EXCELLENT service!

Thank you as well Guru91XRTY! I called my local dealership and of course they had no clue and said there were no recalls blah blah blah... but I continued to push her and once she pulled up by my VIN she did see the "bulletin". I am scheduled for repairs!

This thread helped me get the doors repaired on my 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. My passenger side door had been buzzing for almost a year and we were just living with it. Then one day the driver side door got stuck shut. After doing some research and speaking with a Mopar mechanic friend of mine we agreed that it was probably the actuator in both doors. I called Chrysler customer service and told them about the issue and asked if it was under warranty. They informed me that there was a TSB for this issue and to contact a dealership for repair. I made an appointment and they fixed the door that was buzzing. They said that they would not repair the jammed door because it was not the actuator, but rather the latch. I argued with them for a while and they basically said it could be either the actuator or the latch, but if they fixed it and it was the latch then I would have to cover the cost (quoted $1600). I declined. I called Chrysler back and informed them of what the dealership had said. They told me that I could go get a second opinion at another dealership and if they said the same thing then I could take it to my own personal mechanic. If my personal mechanic fixed it and it was the actuator, then Chrysler would reimburse me for the repair. I decided to go this route, because I trust my personal mechanic over the dealership. However, within 30 minutes I received a call back from the original dealership. I don't know if he got contacted by Chrysler, but he was much more pleasant. We still didn't come to a resolution. When I went to pick it up, the guy I had been working with told me that if I could get the door open then they would fix it. What? Basically they didn't want to spend the extra time un-jamming the door. I consulted a YouTube video on how to un-jam the door. It didn't work and my Mopar mechanic friend watched the video and told me that I was lucky I didn't bust out my window (be careful out there team). I ended up trying a trick I read in this forum. While I had the plastic piece off around the door handle, I shoved the lock button over as far as it would go, and pulled the door handle. Boom! It opened! It wouldn't slide open electrically, but I could open it manually. I called them back and made an appointment. I took it to them, showed them the trick, and they fixed it....for free!!! This thread helped me so much I felt obligated to come back and tell my story in hopes that it will help someone else not have to pay $1600+ to get this fixed.
Oh I have also submitted the issue on NHSTA
(TSB) 23-017-20 and extended warranty finally on 2015 and 16s only I think as they were most prone apparently
