i have a 1973 beetle i replaced the fuel filter but now car does not want to idle correctly or it starts and backfires and i see the air filter near the corroborator does not fill up with petrol and there are also bubbles that keeps showing my one friend says there is air in my fuel lines so my question is is there a way to remove the air from fuel tank or fuel line

After 44 years these are restoration projects. Confirm the fuel pump is good...Tips for vintage VW air cooled 1585 cc engines. 1. Set the valve lash. 2. Set the distributor point gap / dwell. 3. Set the initial timing. 4. Now you can check and adjust the carburetor probably needs a rebuild if it's not been done in the last 36 months.

fuel pump works like a charm 1600sp engine car was fine until a few days ago that the had to stand for about 5 days from there it started to make trouble only saw there is air today when installing a new fuel filter
