is there a automatic transmission filter on the 73 super beetle

I have the transmission fluid drained and the bottom pan removed, do i need to
look elsewhere for a filter or is there even one on my beetle?

No. VW's are fairly primitive, no oil filter either.

THANK YOU MUCH! This will save us a ton of time looking for both! So..........how is the fluid filtered then?? Of do I just change it when it needs it?

Changing oil more often was VW's approach. There are kits to add an oil filter but I don't know about the transmission.
