signal lights on 73 super beetle

nothing happening when directional lights turned on, no light on dash either everything else works, flashers, brake, backup, horn, headlights, had a blown fuse at # 12, replaced it , still nothing when directional handle is turned on. Is there a relay just for the directional, if so where is it? Looked at the three behind the fuses, one I think is for the key on buzzer, one for headlights and one is the flasher for the four ways, am I right?  Can it be the switch in the steering column?

Possibly. Check your fuse panel for power all the way across. Steering column has to be grounded to Chasis. A lot of chasing and testing.
