My '89 560 SL had been standing for a month and now it won't start.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After my '89 560 SL stood for a month, it  wouldn't star. I removed the air cover, tilted the butterfly and sprayed it with starter fluid. After a couple of attempts it backfired and started. I drove ten miles and  put 10 gals of gas in It. It idled fast. Again it wouldn't start, just a healthy try with a new battery. It doesn't seem to be getting gas. Why usually and did I make a mistake with the starter fluid

Sound, like fuel filter may be clogged or bad fuel pressure regulator.
