I have a 05 Honda Civic, it overheats at a stop if i drive it for a long time. My local mechanic said I have a blown head gasket but I find it hard to believe. I believe the fans are just not kicking in. But antifreeze is getting burned so I'm not sure. Help?!?

the way to test if the fans are not coming is to bring the car up to temperature then open the hood and see if the fans will come on. if the fans do not come on when the car is up to operating temperature, then you could have bad a bad fan motor or the sensor that tells the fans to run is not working. The antifreeze could get past its boiling point and small like itas burning if the fans do not come on. To check for a blown head gasket watch this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVn-IDi7da8
