2016 Honda Accord Display Issues

Asked by chance_06 Nov 20, 2024 at 02:20 PM about the 2016 Honda Accord EX-L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello all (:

I have a 2016 Honda Accord EX-L. Multiple times while driving it the CarPlay
will stop working. Not just the car play, but both screens on the right hand
side of the car (so not the one showing my speed, trip a, etc, but the one that
shows what music is playing and the one that would show the CarPlay app)
will freeze. The place where it shows my MPG (Trip A & Current Trip) will
flash between the actual MPG at the time and just saying --.-- or 00-00 (I
can't remember which I don't drive the car very often).

Sometimes the entire thing will turn black. Since I don't know of any way to
hard reset those screens without turning the car completely off and back on
(which only sometimes fixes it) I am not sure how to go about helping this
situation. It's very frustrating when I'm trying to use the navigation on CarPlay
(I have found that Apple Maps works better than Waze - Waze used to really
glitch out the screen, but even Apple Maps still isn't perfect) and it freezes.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Has anyone been able to fix it? If
so, how did you go about doing so?

I had one do something similar, it would go blank then turn on and start scrolling weird symbols then everything it was supposed to show would be all over the screen then it would go black. Anyway, after checking the circuits and all inputs turned out the entire systems logic system went bye bye, a new one was horribly expensive, so I went aftermarket, still expensive but it all worked after that.

Thank you for the information, Gene! Since you went aftermarket, does that mean you had to install it yourself? I do not know anything about installing something like that.

No, I didn't install it, I figured that it needed serial data from the vehicles main computer it would be best to have it installed. If you're interested at looking for aftermarket you could try Best buy, or an independent automotive stereo store, etc.
