2016 Honda Accord won't start after turning off

I went to our battery store in town, they know lots about batteries, more than an AutoZone employee would. They tested the battery and it passed everything but the guy told me the manufacturers put the lowest amp battery they can in the car. This one was around 410 cc amps. The place the battery goes is pretty roomy, so I bought a bigger battery, this one has about 730 cc amps and it fit no problem. So this should fix the issue.

I'm having the same issue. it's crazy. there's a problem but the tests don't show any problem with the alt or the bat.

Im experiencing the same issue. This has happen to me twice within 2 weeks. I have taken it to the Honda dealership both times and they can not figure out what the problem is. This is very interesting.

I had the same exact same problem with my 2017 honda accord sport. Sometimes it seems as if the car almost wouldn't start, and finally I started needing a jump to get to a to b. The factory honda battery is actually only 400 some CCA!! Honda went cheap as possible on the battery, I upgraded to 625 CCA Battery from Autozone and have not had any problems since. Upgrade your battery if you don't wanna get stuck in the middle of nowhere!

My battery is showing 12.2V, but no voltage is getting to the car. Engine won't even try to turn over. No lights on dash, no CARPLAYm no nuttin'. 10,000 miles. getting ready tohave it towed in. jhop@mac.com

My 2015 has the same issu for last two years when it had 20k miles. They’ve been focusing on car or remote batteries but it’s not battery as with even a brand new battery it has issues within six months. I learned that Honda had this issue with 2013, there was a recall and the issue was fixed as Honda said however apparently it still exists. I’m working with American Honda now, we’ll see what they have to say...

I Have a 2016 Honda accord Manual LXS and I've gotten my Battery Tested by Honda and Triple A . They said my Car tests perfectly fine. Voltage 12.92V Measured: 426 CCA Rated 410 CCA Temperature 124 oF But when I Jump the car it starts asap. It works for about 2 weeks then doesn't start. I had to get it jumped again and as soon as I got to work the car didn't start again. Honda said it could be the starter but they literally have no idea.. So i'm going to change my battery to a high voltage as I read and see if that fixes the issue.

I ended up going to advanced auto parts. Getting a higher voltage battery. They only had 500 CC. So I got that one. Honda has a higher voltage than 500. I paid 135 they installed it and took the Honda Battery. I haven't had any issues since. So try a high voltage battery.

Also make sure you VIN doesn't have the recall on the battery sensor. So check that first with Honda then if not get a new battery. Higher voltage than the stock one or higher than the one that you have. I haven't had any issues since

Do anyone know why my 2017 Honda Accord sport want start all the lights come on but the car want even turn over at all

I got a higher Voltage Battery after my issues started and I haven't had any problems since then. Even in the sever cold we had recently the car started right up. So far so good. It looks like from all my research up to and through the 2018 models changing the battery to a higher voltage has been the solution.

Happened to me today. Out of nowhere click click click click click.. Jumped it, all the dash lights were on now...hmmmm. I waited it out a few mins then said screw it and started driving to autozone to get a battery. Lights went off during the ride, got battery anyway and now it's good to go.

Thanks! I had the same issue, 3 separate times. Lights would dim and alarm horn would barely sound. After a battery charge or boost, I was back on the road for a few weeks until it happened again and again. Between this post, which was super helpful, and running a battery test at AutoZone, it was obvious the battery was small and no good (it actually failed the battery test). I purchased a new battery, double the size of the original, and hoping for the best. It’s only been a day so I will keep everyone posted if things should change. Safe driving!

By the way, I have a 2016 Honda Accord Sport. I looked up Honda Recalls and my vehicle had 0, which should mean the battery sensor is good. The car was also purchased in February (4+ months ago) as a certified pre-owned. It went through Honda’s 180 point check and all. Fingers crossed, it was just a bad and small battery.

Having same issue on a 2016 accord I purchased brand new 2.5 years ago. It’s happened twice & I just was at dealership last week getting oil changed & it tested fine , But they also didn’t put back on my pan underneath car & now problems again with battery. Seems a little fishy to me

Hi everyone I just bought a 2017 Honda Accord Lx and within the first day of owning it, the car just died completely I can’t turn it on and the light will flicker every now and then. I took it to the Honda dealership and they told me it was a bad starter so they replaced it for free since it was under warranty. Not a day later and the car won’t start again, and the person at Honda isn’t replying to my calls after the receptionist says he’ll call me back. It’s been sitting in my drive way for two days now and it still won’t start but the battery is brand new and so is the starter. What is then problem?

happens to me again after 6 months and i just changed the battery Autozone , car starts better now .People- change the battery and if u change the battery don't get it from honda , get it somewhere else.

Hey All. It’s been almost a month later and my car is starting fine every time. I got a new battery from AutoZone. Got double the size and it fit fine. Car has been working great. It is a battery issue. The Honda battery is small and no good.

Well..I have a 2016 Honda Accord. In 2017 the battery died. Took it in to Honda and they replaced the battery. It's now 2019 and the battery died again. I'm at the Honda dealer...doing g diagnostic at $125 comes back, the battery is fine, no issues found. I said this happened 2 years ago and 2 year later same issue. The better given to me in 2017 was 550 CCS. Not sure what's draining the battery. But I know after this $125 diagnostic at Honda they wont find anything. So I might as well venture to AutoZone and get a higher voltage battery.

Honda will give you the same battery they think the car needs. I was told by a mechanic that the batter the car comes with is not strong enough to support all the bells and whistles the car has. Get a higher voltage battery and that will work.

I had a similar issue where my 2016 Honda Accord was making a clicking noise when starting. Additionally, my lights would fade and the infotainment system would randomly shut off. I would get Vehicle Stability Assist and Hill Start Assist warning lights when making sharp turns. Sometimes I would even lose power steering when parallel parking. Other times, my car would fail to start. Honda was telling me it was a starter problem and was trying to charge me $400 for the starter, plus $135/hour for labor. I'm glad I declined. I had my doubts with their diagnosis, so I took the car home and looked at it with my father. After doing some initial research online, I found that the clicking noise can either be caused by a bad starter or a bad battery. To prove which one was causing the problem, we decided to jump start the car. The hypothesis was that if the clicking noise did not present itself, then it was a battery issue and not a starter problem. Lo and behold the clicking noise did not happen when we jump started the car. So then we checked the voltage using a multimeter directly on the battery and a voltmeter plugged into the car's 12V outlet. When the car was on, the multimeter, was reading about 14.3V (within normal operating range of 13.5V to 14.5V when on), but the voltmeter was reading slightly less, though still within normal operating range. However, when the car was off, the multimeter reading on the battery was 12.2V (slightly below normal operating range of 12.4V to 12.7V when off), but the voltmeter was reading significantly less at 11.30V. From this we knew that the alternator was charging the battery correctly when on. The battery could be old (a little over 3 years) and therefore unable to hold charge which might explain the multimeter reading when off. But this doesn't explain why the voltmeter reading was so low. We then tested the voltage at the metal plates extending from the negative terminal of the battery and found that there was a voltage drop attributed to a loose connection, possibly due to carbon buildup. We unscrewed the metal plates at this connection and used very fine sandpaper to sand down the plates and remove any carbon. After screwing back the plates we tested the voltage again and found that the multimeter and voltmeter were reading about the same voltages when the car was on. When off, there is a small discrepancy between the voltages at the battery and the interior of the car. There is also slightly slow crank, but these issues could just be because the battery is old and needs replacement. All the other issues with car have not reappeared as of yet. Saved myself hundreds of dollars! TLDR: There was a loose connection with my battery that was causing a clicking noise when starting. Fixed it by unscrewing the loose connection and sanding it down with very fine sandpaper to remove any carbon buildup. Saved myself a lot of money.

I am experiencing the same issue with my 2016 EXL, can someone please recommend a higher voltage battery? I don’t want to spend the money to take it to the dealership.

I commented here some months ago i had issue with 2017 Accord Se .starting my car . Since then i changed the battery , bought in Autozone it was around 200$ 450 i believe cca ( don’t buy the battery from Honda . They will give u same sh...) Since then never had any issue starting the car.

Ya change the battery guys car seems to be working fine now

Having the same issues...checked the VIN and it says that there isn't any recalls for my VIN...this has been happening for a couple of years. My LED lights also went out within the first two years. Love my car but disappointed with Honda.

2016 Honda Accord Sport As mentioned earlier in this post, I had all the same issues. I checked my VIN as well and no recalls. It is a battery issue. Honda has very small and cheap batteries for some odd reason. Go to AutoZone or any car store and purchase a new Battery. That’s what I did months ago and haven’t had a problem since (even in cold and wet weather). I literally doubled the size of my battery. It’s a tight fit but it works just fine.

Having the same issue on 2016 Accord and have put 3 batteries in vehicle. This last battery was not from Honda and is larger CCA than original. Eleven months later I have the same problem again. Battery and alternator check out ok.

Same issue with 2016 Honda Accord Sport. Replaced the battery and alternator. It worked great for 5 months and now it won't start again. All the lights come on but that's it. I keep getting stranded at work.
