2016 Silverado Trailer Braking System

My 2016 silverado did not come with the trailer brake switch but in the glove
box there was the wiring harness for trailer brakes. I recently purchased a
camper that has brakes so I will need to set my truck up with the wiring
harness. I would like to have my brake switch to look like how it would come
from the factory which would require me to buy a trailer brake control switch
plate because the plate I have now has a cubby hole where the switch would
go. My question ....is this possible? I read somewhere if your truck did not
come from the factory with a brake switch built in  then you could not expect
to buy a factory brake switch and install and use it.
