Engine replacement cost

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Recently took truck to dealership due to engine noise. They found shavings
over several bearings and are recommending engine replacement. Does that
seem reasonable. What should I expect to spend for a new engine? Truck has
60,000 miles on it, bought it used 1 year ago.

It sounds like you don't trust your mechanic. It will be hard to tell us what exactly is wrong without hearing the noise. I would recommend a second opinion and have another mechanic inspect it to verify that is your issue.
If there are metal shavings the engine is failing. You can replace the engine, rebuilt it or drive it until it self destructs. A used engine might be the way to go if you can find a low mile engine with guarantee. A new or rebuilt engine installed with be north of 5 grand. The dealer will charge a lot more than that!
