If I replace my cluster with a new one will the mileage start over at 0?

I can't get my cluster repaired as I thought so I'm considering purchasing a new one and installing myself. Will mileage be zero'd out and start over if I don't have it programmed and will it work correctly?

It will work correctly, don't know how your states handles mileage on cars, example in some states you have to list the mileage each time you go for an inspection. So say last year you had 90,000 miles and this year you have 0, you will need to explain to the state why you have 0 miles on the car..
Thanks for your answer My state doesn't have inspections and IF I got rid of my E I could put odometer reading incorrect but I love my E and she's staying put with me!!
Would it be possible to move old speedometer from old cluster into new cluster to retain correct mileage for car?
