Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After reading all the previous post I realize that I
am not alone in my angst with Kia in their digital
clock issue dating back to February 6 at 3 AM I’m
like oh my god so it must be a satellite issue I
know that their system was down a couple of days
ago on that might’ve had something to do with it
but I am I guess I have to wait till Monday or
Tuesday to call Kia and find out what the Hells
going on

Update the software going in the settings. will take 10 to 15 minutes; system will prompt that it is same version, ignore the prompt and update anyway. Just got mine fixed right after the update Tested on Kia sorrento 2016 SX

What worked for me was to disconnect the 12v battery for about 2 minutes, then reconnect it. Everything then worked. A system reset (remove SD card or press reset button) did NOT work, but disconnecting the battery did. (10mm socket)

Find the question "date and time" on this forum, over 100 posts in the past 3 days. In a word it seems to be a satellite problem; perhaps related to an update, perhaps something else. Optima, Soul, Sorento and Niro owners have rung in on this. I got my Niro clock back by hitting the reset button (see picture) with a ballpoint pen. Some have reported success by disconnecting the battery for several minutes - this could prove difficult to do with a hybrid. If the reset button doesn't work, consider turning off the main fusebox switch, located in the center of the fuse box, for 10 minutes. Pulling the MultiMedia fuse for 30 seconds did not fix the problem for me.

I can’t update. States “please check the update memory and try again”. Can’t change any clock settings as locked out but have always had gps time on. I have a feeling that Kia is trying to force me to the dealership. I tried going to dealership originally as they wanted but all of my “covered, free, included” services always cost me something and getting there on their exact timeframe was not possible for me and very stressful (like when someone is tapping their toe waiting on me to say or do something in front of a crowd...lol). Anyway I'm not thrilled with Kia the longer I keep this car. But what can you do? If I determine definitively what fixes this, I will advise. When I read all of these "fixes" none of them seem definitive. Good luck and thanks.

I have updates already. Quick version: Take out Kia SD card. Put back in. voila! Clock and date are back. Long version: all the crap online stating satellite issues and contact dealership is just that-crap. Just want ur hard earned $ given to billion dollar corps that over charge and lie to do it. Capitalism at its finest. I was never told to update my sd card by dealership nor did they ever do it. All I can find so far requires purchase just to update but I'll keep looking. Good luck and thanks.

I'm like GiGi I tried the reset. It wants me to check my update memory and try again. I'm stuck! Will this problem just fix itself or whats next?
