Can i save my transmission?

Asked by Isaiah Jul 28, 2015 at 03:25 PM about the 1994 Honda Civic Coupe EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 94 honda civic ex coupe with the 1.6l and 5 spd transmission. It recently ran
out of oil (only been driving it for 3 weeks, bought off a friend). Ive recently notices i
had an oil leak that looked like it was coming from the transmission. It started to
become hard to shift into gears and just now as i pulled into the gas station, it wont
move when i put it into gear, the car rattles and shakes as i try to give it gas and
eventually just stalls out. The clutch is still working, leading me to believe it is a
transmission issue that was caused by the lack of oil. Should i try adding oil to see if it
will free up some of the inner components? or Is it too late? Thanks.

add/check gear oil..does the picture look right..is this what you have?is it stuck in 2 gears?

im going to try adding oil after work. And at the moment it feels like its stuck in a gear, neutral isnt neutral, itll stall out if let up completely on the clutch so it is engaged still.

Running things out of oil is not good, but eventually the oil leak will stop. You can try adding oil. Could be stuck in 2 gears like Kelly pointed out.
